The Gianni G. Martins Foundation (GGMF) is preparing to launch the fourth edition of the Mwana Luzito Project, a citizenship education initiative that continues to establish itself as a reference in promoting ethical, civic, and patriotic values among children and adolescents in Luanda.
This new phase will be implemented at Primary School No. 8008, located in the municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi, in the Avô Kumbi neighborhood, where approximately 90 children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 14 are expected to benefit.
Under the school-associated theme, “Learning with technology, innovating with creativity, and transforming with passion,” this edition introduces an innovative approach, marked by the beginning of a strategic synergy between two of the Foundation’s projects: the Mwana Luzito Project and Kandengues Cientistas.
The coordination between these two initiatives represents a significant step in the evolution of GGMF’s intervention model by integrating civic education with scientific and technological approaches. The intention is to enhance the different resources, methodologies, and experiences of each project, creating a more complete and effective response to the needs of children’s holistic development.
Through this convergence, the goal is not only to strengthen the quality of the educational activities, but also to increase the likelihood of achieving more consistent and sustainable results, both in terms of the participants’ social behavior and their critical, creative, and participatory abilities.
For the Foundation, this synergy also represents a direct contribution toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17), which promotes effective partnerships as an essential driver of sustainable development. By investing in complementarity between internal projects, GGMF reinforces its commitment to collaborative and integrated solutions for social challenges.
Since its creation, the Mwana Luzito Project, whose name means “respectful child” in the Kikongo language, has been implemented in different educational institutions across Luanda Province, with positive results in terms of behavioral improvement, the strengthening of citizenship awareness, and the engagement of school communities.
Previous editions covered schools in the municipalities of Kilamba Kiaxi, Cazenga, and Samba, standing out not only for student participation, but also for the growing involvement of teachers, school administrations, and parents or guardians, who have taken on an active role in consolidating the results achieved.
In addition to training activities and educational dynamics, the project has invested in the production of edu-communicative materials, such as the “Mwana Luzito” comic book, an innovative tool that facilitates children’s understanding and retention of the content. For this edition, there will also be the production of an illustrated booklet that will serve as a guiding resource for some of the project’s activities, promoting sustainability and intergenerational engagement.
With the launch of the fourth edition, the Gianni G. Martins Foundation reaffirms its commitment to education and the holistic development of children, investing in increasingly innovative, collaborative, and results-oriented approaches.
The initiative reinforces the belief that investing in the education of new generations is a fundamental step toward building a fairer, more aware, and more participatory society, where every child is called to play an active role in transforming their environment.
